Join us for Season 3 of the Just Solutions Podcast! This season we are bringing you relevant and personable conversations with guests to make sense of what is going on in and around the US, in particular the impacts of the federal attacks and rollbacks, and what people are doing to defend and advance justice.
Since we launched Just Solutions Podcast two years ago, the response has been incredible. We have listeners in all 50 US states and nearly 50 countries, all interested in hearing from community leaders who are having an impact on important environmental and climate justice issues and in learning from leading experts about complex issues.
We started the podcast to create another way of sharing information and, hopefully, giving listeners inspiration to try something new, deepen their understanding, or take more bold action. Our guests have shared extraordinary experiences that have made us laugh, cry, and cheer them on. All around the US, ordinary people who make extraordinary commitments are working every day to protect communities and the planet. The combination of centering humans in the fight against climate change, considering affordability, health, safety, and the right to clean air and water, while recognizing that we’re on a dangerous path that threatens our very existence, is daunting. But we believe that is the promise and the necessity of building a stronger, more impactful climate movement. This focus is what makes our podcast special.
Given the success of the show, where do we go from here? We want to create a show that brings you, your concerns, ideas, and insights into the podcast with us.
First, we are going to prioritize helping listeners make sense of the political situation in the US. Unprecedented rollbacks of foundational programs. Massive cuts of investments to address climate change and clean, sustainable and affordable energy solutions. Attacks on communities who face growing hardships. And more. We need to understand how we got into this mess and how we can get out of it to build a more inclusive and powerful climate movement.
Second, our format this season will be more conversational, so listeners feel like they’re sitting down with us. We are thinking of ways to bring listener questions and ideas into our show. Stay tuned to see how we are going to do that, and be ready to share who you think we should have on the show, what questions you want us to dig into.
Finally, we want you to get to know the host, Aiko Schaefer, and our guests more personally. We will spend more time to learn about their interests, what motivates them to do this work, and what they are most hopeful and afraid of.
So join us on December 11th as we launch season 3. If it’s your first time listening or you have been with us since we started, we hope you enjoy the show. First up is Aiko sitting down with three long-time community organizers from around the US to talk about how we got to this place of seismic changes to climate change and attacks on communities, and what they think it will take for us to advance just solutions.
