Introducing: The Just Solutions Podcast

We’re excited to announce the launch of The Just Solutions Podcast!

The Just Solutions Podcast explores relevant climate and environmental justice stories from the perspective of BIPOC-Frontline Environmental Justice communities. We interview experts working in EJ to break down program models, policy, & research and explore their impact on BIPOC Frontline communities.

Here are previews of some of our upcoming episodes:

  • The Story of PCEF featuring Khanh Pham: In 2018, the Portland Clean Energy Fund showed us what’s possible when we implement community-centered and created policies for environmental justice. Five years later, we connect with Oregon State Representative Khanh Pham to hear the lessons learned from the creation, campaign, and implementation of the Fund and opportunities for cities and communities to replicate the model. Khanh is an Oregon State Representative and Senior Fellow with Just Solutions.
  •  Advanced Pay Pilot with Greenlining Institute featuring Emi Wang: The advance pay pilot recently passed by CA’s governor serves as a strategy to increase access to funding for lower-resourced organizations and communities including grants from the Transformative Climate Communities Program in California. This law serves as a great model for how states can better engage with community groups when sharing resources. Emi Wang is the Director for Capacity Building at The Greenlining Institute.
  • Climate Implications for Black Communities featuring Jacqueline Patterson: Black communities across the U.S. are faced with unique climate and environmental implications. We explore with Jacqueline Patterson, Founder and Executive Director of The Chisholm Legacy Project, the importance of centering these experiences in our collective advocacy.

The Just Solutions podcast is hosted by our very own Executive Director, Aiko Schaefer. We have a great lineup of guest speakers sharing their knowledge and experiences as environmental justice practitioners who are driving community-created and equity-centered solutions to the climate crisis.
