Deric Gruen

Senior Fellow

Deric Gruen (he/him) is a Senior Fellow for policy and strategy. He is also the Co-Executive Director for Policy and Programs at Front and Centered, where he has been instrumental in crafting and advancing Washington State policies and tools, including the Health Environment for All Act, the Clean Energy Transformation Act, and the Environmental Health Disparities Map. He served on the State’s Growth Management Framework Task Force, Energy Strategy Advisory Committee, and the Green Economy Work Group. Deric also co-founded the People’s Economy Lab, a BIPOC economic democracy project, the Office of Sustainability at Bellevue College, where he and the office won national and state awards, and Critical Mass in Beirut, Lebanon, the ‘old country’ of his mother’s parents. Previously he was a Fellow at the Sightline Institute, a board member of the Sustainable Consumption Research and Action Initiative (SCORAI) and an alumni of the Transatlantic Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy network (ELEEP). Deric received his master’s from the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy and Governance.
