Senior Director of States and Capacity Building

Brandon Dawson (he/they) is the Senior Director of State Strategy & Capacity Building at Just Solutions, where he develops and leads the organization’s multi-state strategy to advance equitable climate and social policies and strengthen state environmental and climate justice coalitions. Brandon brings over a decade of experience across climate and environmental justice policy, legislative affairs, and grassroots organizing. Prior to Just Solutions, he served as Director of Sierra Club California, where he partnered with policymakers and mobilized more than 500k+ supporters to advance major climate and public health protections, and helped secure over $12 billion in state funding for climate and environmental programs. Earlier in his career, he worked in environmental litigation as an Honors Graduate with the U.S. Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division. He holds a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and a B.A. from Texas A&M University. Based in Dallas, Texas, Brandon enjoys sci-fi novels, horror movies, tennis, and spending time with his tiny (but mighty) pup, Montell.
